“If you don’t have a clear problem, you can’t have a clear solution”

THE PHILIPPINES, MAY 4, 2012: On its last class for the school year, Raw School featured BBDO Guerrero’s chief creative officer David Guerrero, the lead behind the new Department of Tourism campaign.

Guerrero shared pieces of advices on how not to make a bad ad and discussed three priorities that he has when it comes to advertising: Work, Client, Self. He also stressed that a good client is one who demands for ideas.

One of the highlights was the in-class exam wherein Raw Schoolers were tasked to think of different uses for a hollow block within 10 minutes. The winner wins The Idea Book.

People need to have something which is proven true, to give them a good execution of a created idea. He expressed this as the real deal on advertising. And how can one start creating a good work from scratch? Guerrero said that the best answer is the one that you didn’t expect yourself. One material is being convinced by your ideas. “You should know what you want, believe in it and start working on it.”

“Happiness precedes success,” is Guerrero’s simple rule in becoming a man behind the successful BBDO. Raw School 2011’s last batch assignment is to think of an idea how to keep Boracay clean and still be an amazing haven.
