GreenMango and Jograd dela Torre create #YolandaSong tribute video

MANILA – November 27, 2013 – With the hope of inspiring people to donate to Yolanda relief efforts, GreenMango and activist singer/comedian Jograd dela Torre created a tribute video for the super typhoon victims in the Philippines.

Called #YolandaSong, the video is a way both to honor the victims and survivors, as well as raise awareness for their ongoing plight.

"It was a real labor of love between ourselves and activist singer/comedian Jograd dela Torre, who shows his serious side in an impassioned manner that will surely resonate with the millions of Filipinos who have had enough with the status quo and are bent on positive change," said Sara Sasani of GreenMango.

"Any and all proceeds will go to the aid of those effected by Typhoon Haiyan (in Tacloban, Samar Province, Palawan and beyond). The worst may be over but there’s still hundreds of thousands of innocent and helpless people across the Philippines in dire need of aid. Please give whatever you can. No amount is too small – donate today!" read the video description, which linked to the Red Cross donation page.

"This tribute video for the super typhoon victims in the Philippines is extremely touching and INSPIRING. Jograd dela Torre is speaking for all of us through this song," it read.

The lyrics and vocals by dela Torre are made more powerful by the images in the video, which includes actual footage of the storm. According to Sasani, the video was filmed in just half a day outside of an abandoned, half burnt down building on the outskirts of Makati, which was made to look like it was in the heart of Tacloban.

Conceptualized, edited and directed by Derek Wanner, the video shows a lola (played by Lita Divino), clutching a rosary, surrounded by rubble. As deal Torre sings, there are scenes of both devastation and hope – reminding people of the disaster and at the same time, urging them to take action.
