Araw Awards judging, of case studies and new colleagues

It was all work at the Araw Awards judging as the country’s advertising top brass rated the finest ad work of the last two years.  With a few friends in the fields of design and broadcasting, as well as colleagues from the region, joining, some good clean fun was just the spice needed.

Already in the thick of many pioneering efforts, the Araw judging includes marketing effectiveness, with case studies adding another challenge for judges.  The integrated category alone had more than 60 entries for review, with accompany AVPs, so we tip our hats off to this jury’s resolve.

Among the jury heads, you’ll find an old/new face. TBWA/Santiago Mangada Puno founder Jimmy Santiago heads the Print/OAP jury, his first time, despite being a consistent AdCon committee member  over the last 20 years and being the designer of the first Araw trophy.

What’s more interesting is that he’s taking on the responsibiities of jury head, not as a creative but as a planning director.

For first-time judges, and hard-nosed veterans, the general consensus is that of a good learning experience.  With smiles outnumbering concentrating frowns, call that a roaring good time.
