Susan Dimacali leaves DDB to go into advocacy and consulting

PHILIPPINES, NOVEMBER 11, 2010 – After her talk today at PANAF Youth Conference, DDB Cares Chairman Susan Dimacali confirmed to adobo that her time at DDB will end on Tuesday, November 15.

“I got the experience I needed,” said Dimacali. “I’d like to be more active with advocacy.” Dimacali will also be working as an independent marketing consultant and already has clients.

When asked about a potential successor, Dimacali said that she does not think that she will be replaced by a single person: “There will be people brought in to take on some but not all of my functions.”

Dimacali founded various businesses for DDB Philippines over the past five years, including the local offices of  DDB Cares, Tribal DDB, Touch DDB and DM9 JaymeSyfu. She was previously president and CEO of BBDO Guerrero Ortega and spent 15 years with McCann Erickson, leading account service and was appointed executive vice president for business development and external relations.

At the PANAF Youth Congress, Dimacali spoke to students about the success of the Ako Mismo movement and how it was a brand experience with volunteerism. The Ako Mismo campaign brought her to her new calling, especially when she worked with CNN Hero, Efren Penaflorida.

“Efren’s great,” she says. “What he does for the kids is amazing. He wears the Ako Mismo tag all the time! At the CNN Awards I had to run up to my room to get it, or else he’d scold me!” Dimacali will continue to help out with the Ako Mismo campaign.
