AKQA calls for Future Lions entries

GLOBAL – MARCH 15, 2012:  The seventh annual Future Lions global student advertising competition, hosted by AKQA in collaboration with the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, is calling for 2012 entries.
The annual competition challenges students to develop an idea for advertising a brand in a way that would not have been possible five years ago. There are no rules in terms of media or technology, no restrictions around product or target audience and no entry fee. Winning concepts will be honored at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in June.
Last year the competition attracted nearly 850 entries from across the globe. Previous winners of the Future Lions competition have since been employed by major advertising agencies such as Wieden + Kennedy, Droga5 and Crispin Porter + Bogusky. 
“There is no better start to a career in advertising than to win a Future Lion at Cannes. This challenge has gone on to launch the careers of world class students and give them a global platform to showcase their excellence in innovation and creativity.  This year’s theme looks to find the future heroes who are able to ‘Answer the Call’.” said Rei Inamoto, chief creative officer, AKQA.
Concepts can rely on new media or use traditional media in completely new ways. Five groups of students with the winning ideas will win registration to the festival in Cannes, France, 17–24 June, 2012, and be honoured with a Future Lion Cub trophy – a limited-edition design created by AKQA – in recognition of their creative achievement. The deadline for submission is 24 April 2012, 12.00 GMT.
Future Lions will also recognize the Future Lions School of the Year for the individual school achieving the most student submissions to reach the final round. Last year, this accolade was awarded to Miami Ad School in Hamburg.
