The Philippine Star announces release of augmented reality app LiveIt!

MANILA, APRIL 29, 2013 – The Philippine Star has announced the maiden issue of LiveIt!, an augmented reality app that helps readers access in-depth news and editorial content, as well as details regarding events, discounts and sales.

Augmented reality features such as LiveIt! allow implementing newspapers to bridge the gap between print and digital through the provision of easily accessed digital content – including photo galleries, video clips and movie trailers – that is also optimized for sharing over social networks.

Additionally, the use of LiveIt! also allows the Philippine Star to leverage its relationships with its clients and promote print advertising through a more creative and engaging approach, which allows advertisers to communicate more creatively with potential customers.

Starcom Mediavest is supporting this initial issue of LiveIt! by inviting all its clients to add an AR feature for this issue today.

The Philippine Star joins other newspapers such as Japan’s Tokyo Shimbun and the United Kingdom’s The Independent in employing augmented reality to enhance their print content.
