Cannes Lions receives record-breaking number of entries

FRANCE – Over 40,000 entries have been submitted across Cannes Lions, Lions Health and the new Lions Innovation Festival.

In total, 40,133 pieces of work will be considered by the judges at the three festivals, with entries into Lions Health rising 30% to 1,862. In its first year as a stand-alone event, Lions Innovation saw a total of 845 entries across its two categories.

Cannes Lions saw a total of 37,426 entries, with particularly strong growth in the Film (+8%), Branded Content & Entertainment (+18%) and Film Craft (+6%) sections. The Creative Effectiveness Lions also saw rapid growth, with 160 entries recorded this year.

Philip Thomas, CEO of Lions Festivals, said that the number of entries showed an “industry that believes in the power of creativity as a driving force for business and for brands. The Lions are a proxy for great creativity, and it is exciting to see marketers globally pushing themselves and their agency partners to produce truly outstanding work, and having the confidence to bring it to Cannes Lions to compete on the world stage.”

Judging of the 2015 awards takes place in Cannes, France, where 366 global jurors will meet to debate, discuss and vote on the entries before awarding the coveted Lion trophies.
