YouTube said to restrict LGBTQ* content from viewers

Yesterday, netizens expressed their discontent over YouTube’s new setting: “restricted mode.” The purpose of “Restricted Mode,” according to YouTube is: “to help screen out potentially objectionable content that you may prefer not to see or don’t want others in your family to see on YouTube.”

However many of YouTube’s content creators whose channels are focused on LGBTQ* issues have complained that this setting has filtered out content that did not even feature any lascivious content.

In turn, people from the internet formed the hashtag #YouTubeIsOverParty, one that trended on Twitter, as a response to the controversy.

YouTube has always claimed to be an ally to the LGBTQ* community, usually producing pride month related videos for years.
