Adam&EveDDB and Forsman & Bodenfors win Film Grand Prix

CANNES – Adam&EveDDB’s ‘Sorry I Spent it on Myself’ for Harvey Nichols and Forsman & Bodenfors’ ‘The Epic Split’ for Volvo Trucks bagged the Grand Prix in Film at the Cannes International Festival of Creativity.

“I think those two films were outstanding from all the other winning films submitted. They both were great examples of how to communicate the product benefit in the new fresh way that was also entertaining and well produced.  It’s the kind of films that people want to watch it again and again,” said Film juror Sompat Trisadikun, Chief Creative Officer, Leo Burnett, Thailand.

Meanwhile, the USA led with the most number of wins, bagging 31 of 105 metals: 7 Golds, 8 Silvers, and 16 Bronzes.

“We started to think about and to search for something which I believe the whole industry is missing at the moment. We are talking a lot about what are the things that are changing, and we’ve forgotten about what will never change,” Film jury president and DDB Worldwide Chief Creative Officer, Amir Kassaei as he introduced the winners. According to Kassaei, the jury looked for three things: bravery, honesty, and humanity. “I believe if you’re not brave, you will never ever change the world for the better,” he said.

Trisadikun said, “Most of the films shortlisted this year were really good but many of them did not make it because they missed the criteria that all of the jury members were looking for.” Trisadikun said that Kassaei had told them to find work which not only had brilliant execution and strategy, but were relevant to the brand.

Trisadikun shared that this year, there were a number of pieces submitted that associated themselves with social good across various categories. “Surprisingly a lot of films were about the handicapped (some of jury even made comments suggesting if this year was a handicap year!)”

“We weren’t looking for any specific theme, trend or any particular style of film submitted, however instead we gave importance to the ideas behind a film.  I must say, what we were looking for was the best and bravest film idea that was relevant to the brand and its audience,” Trisadikun said.
