Leo Burnett Beirut leads APAC agencies in 2015 Big Won Rankings

APAC – On Wednesday, January 27, The Directory has released the 2015 Big Won Rankings, the annual survey of the best agencies and the best campaigns of the year as measured by the quantity and quality of awards won. USA is the number one country for creativity with WPP as the top holding company and BBDO, the top network.

Among the top agencies for creativity which is led by BBDO New York, APAC agency Leo Burnett Beirut came in the fourth spot. The Beirut agency’s entry to the top five is attributed to two of its award-winning campaigns; First, “Keep the Flame Alive” for Johnny Walker which ranked as the #9 campaign across all categories, #5 in the top digital, and integrated campaigns. Second is “Lebanon4Sale”, a campaign for Sakker el Dekkene, which ranked #9 among the Top outdoor, ambient campaigns and #6 in media.

Leo Burnett MENA’s Bechara Mouzannar also emerged as the #1 chief creative officer beating the #1 ranked network BBDO Worldwide’s chief David Lubars who is occupying the #2 spot. The agency also claimed the #1 top executive creative directors spot for Malek Ghorayeb. Meanwhile, Lama Bawadi ranked #10 among the top copywriters while Samer Shoueiry/Tina Sioufi and Youmma El Asmar ranked #4 and #10 in the top planners category respectively.

Joining Leo Burnett Beirut in this year’s top 20 agencies is Colenso BBDO Auckland, ranked #6, with its campaign “Wrinkle Skinfood” for New Zealand Breast cancer Association ranking 10th in the top press campaigns.

Dentsu Tokyo also made it to the #8 spot, with its campaign “Junior Swimming Championships” for Tokio Marine ranking #4 in the top design campaigns category.

Ranked #12 is Leo Burnett Sydney. Their campaigns “Tiger/Sharks/Rhinos” for WWF Australia, “Men Like Us Like Bundaberg” for Bundaberg Rum ranked #6 in the top poster campaigns and #8 in top radio campaigns respectively.

Some notable APAC campaigns in this year’s Big Won Rankings are BBDO Kuala Lumpur’s campaign for KCF Malaysia, “Drumstick/Burger/Fries” ranked 3rd in the top campaigns across all categories, #1 in top poster campaigns, and #2 in top press and design campaigns, and Cheil Seoul’s “Look At Me” for Samsung ranked 7th in overall campaigns, #3 in PR campaigns, and #1 top mobile campaign.
