AD STARS 2011 entries up 31% to 7,130 works

ASIA-PACIFIC – BUSAN, SOUTH KOREA, JULY 15, 2011 – Organizers of the AD STARS Busan International Advertising Festival 2011 announced that 7,130 works were submitted from 46 countries this year, an increase of 1,690 (31%) from the 5,427 entered from 41 countries last year.
 
The number entries from countries other than Korea increased by 22% to 4,622. A significant number came from Europe, orth America and South Africa, in addition to Asia. Eight countries, including Qatar, the Czech Republic, Turkey, Ecuador, Panama, Uruguay, Egypt and Slovenia, submitted to the festival for the first time this year.

Networks such as JWT, Ogilvy & Mather, TBWA, Y&R and Publicis submitted over 150 works each from their offices worldwide, proving that the festival’s reputation has spread globally. AD STARS 2011 has never been shy in declaring its international  ambitions and this has paid off. It is now the largest advertising festival in Asia in terms of entries and participating countries.
 
Eui-ja Lee, co-chairperson of AD STARS executive committee, said, “I have greater expectations for the event in the future, as the quality of entries is also improving, in addition to the quantitative growth. I have the firm belief that in a few years AD STARS will stand shoulder to shoulder with world-class advertising festivals. We will do our best to make this festival an event recognized throughout the world.”

The final round of AD STARS 2011 will be held at the Busan Haeundae Grand Hotel from August 25to 27. Seminars and film screenings will be held under the theme “the Future of Advertising”.
